Who am I?
Well, let's start with the basics. I was born on the tail end of 1st of march, 1976 (just!) which means I was born on St. David's day, patron saint of Wales. Which is annoying in two ways:-
- I'm not Welsh.
- My name is James Arthur David Gater, the initials of which are JADG, which sounds like something in klingon. If i'd had the good fortune to be born a couple of hours later, my name would be JAG, a far cooler acronym.
Still, I get to have four names, which is cool in itself. Or at least different. It certainly helps to spot junk mail.
I'm 6'1", I have eyesofblue, short hair, and freckles. And a dimple. It adds to my general air of being cute. And nice. Which I am! Honest!
Anyway. I make a living fixing computers, installing network servers, and telling people that no, the mouse doesn't need to be fed cheese. If you're interested in that part of me, check out my CV, as a Word document.
What do I do for fun?
Those hours which I call my own, you'll usually find me doing one the following, in no particular order:
- Adding new stuff to sites like this one.
- Down the pool hall with my friends.
- Down the pub with people who may or may not be mates.
- Reading something - Dan Abnett, Anne McCaffrey, William King,Terry Pratchett, or Bernard Cornwell are all on the recent hitlist, amoungst others. If you don't know them, then just classify them as Fantasy/Scence Fiction.
- Studying for my latest MSCE exam.
- Painting resin or lead-alloy figurines, most of which end up as gifts for people. Check out Forgeworld for examples - mine aren't quite as good as these, but they're not far off.
- Oh yeah - and if all else fails, you might just find me on ICQ 6810265, Surfers, or Avalon.
